Important Announcement: BBA To Become An Independent Website
**Updated 6/2/11: The transition to becoming an independent site is taking longer than
originally planned, but should still be completed shortly. I should have known better than to announce a specific date, LOL! I won't bore you with all of the behind-the-scenes details, but long story short, I'm still trying to get everything set up with my new payment processor. Current Badpuppy/BBA members can continue to access the site, but new content won't be added until after the move. I apologize for the unexpected (and hopefully brief) delay, and thanks for your patience during this time of transition for BBA!**

On June 3, 2011, BlackBoyAddictionz.com will be leaving the Badpuppy network of websites and moving to a brand-new server as an independent site. Memberships purchased before June 3, 2011, including all current and recurring Badpuppy memberships, will no longer include access to BBA after June 2nd.
I'm proud to have been a part of the Badpuppy network for over two years, and my experience working with them has been nothing but positive! But after weighing all the "pros" and "cons," I've decided that it's in the best interest of BBA's continued growth and long-term success for it to become an independently operated website.
Don't be alarmed - this shouldn't mean any huge changes for you as members or fans! The biggest change for current members will be that after June 2, you'll need to purchase a new BBA membership in order to access the site. The most significant changes will be taking place behind the scenes - hosting the site on a brand-new dedicated server, accepting website subscriptions through a new payment processor, etc.
Most importantly, however, I'm hoping that BBA's new independence will bring me greater financial flexibility as a producer - to be blunt, more money to invest in recruiting new models and filming fresh content more frequently than I've been able to do lately - which of course will ultimately benefit BBA's loyal members and fans!
I will do everything I can to make this transition as smooth and seamless as possible, without any significant down-time or disruption for BBA's followers. My goal is to have the transition completed by next Friday, June 3. Around that time website updates will resume, and I hope you will show your support by signing up for a new membership with the *newly independent* BlackBoyAddictionz.com!

You're still welcome to purchase a membership now if you're interested in checking out a particular model or scene. All memberships purchased through Badpuppy will still give you complete access to BBA's entire collection of videos until June 1, at which time you will need to purchase a new membership to access the site.

Other than a few changes to the site's free tour area, almost everything about BBA will remain the same (design, layout, movie formats, etc.). Probably the biggest change is that after June 1, BBA memberships will only offer access to BBA content, and not the entire Badpuppy network of sites. You might also see some changes to the pricing/subscription options, but nothing major. The most significant changes are going to be behind the scenes (new servers, payment processor, etc.).

I agree with the previous post 100%. I joined badpuppy just for this site and have been around for a while. It is a little bit of a slap in the face to have supported the site and have the clock run down on us for the past 2 weeks. Just saying :-/

You're right, Bmoney, you've been around for a long time and your interest and support means a lot to me. I certainly didn't intend this brief hiatus as a "slap in the face" to loyal customers like you. In fact, it's just the opposite! I'm making this change because I'm confident and hopeful it will ultimately make it possible for me to deliver hot new models and even better content on a more consistent basis going forward! And I'm trying my best to make this transition with as little down-time and disruption for fans and viewers as possible.

Privacy is a big deal for many of your members, especially DL guys. For those signing up on the independent site how will charges appear on their Credit Card Statement?

I definitely agree with you about the importance of privacy and discretion for most porn consumers, ESPECIALLY for those who aren't "out." I'm still in the process of getting everything set up with my new payment processor, but my understanding is that all credit card charges will be billed discreetly as "BBA Media" or something along those lines.

Right now I'm pretty much at the mercy of my new payment processor, waiting for them to finish reviewing my site for VISA approval and getting their software set up on the new server. The process is taking longer than expected, but hopefully the site will be up and running with new updates no later than next weekend. That's my best estimate right now.
I apologize for the delay and appreciate your patience. Trust me, I'm as ready for this transition to be over as you are!

I think that's an unfair exaggeration on your part. I know I was a little too unrealistic/optimistic when I announced the original June 1st deadline, but it's only been a little over a week since then and I'm doing everything I possibly can to finish everything as quickly as possible. There are a TON of big and little things that have to be done behind the scenes in order for a major move like this to happen and be a success, including a lot of technical and administrative stuff beyond my control (like waiting for VISA to review and approve the site, for example).
I realize that as a fan and viewer, any delay is going to be frustrating. But please trust that I'm looking at the big picture and doing what's best for BBA's future and long-term success. My best guess right now is that everything should be finished within the next two to three days.

I'm sorry, but your timing is just terrible with this. You have a history of over promising and under delivering. I was once a subscriber, but even without this "move madness" you're just too inconsistent with your updates. And then you'll throw up something stupid like a revisit to an old scene or something.
You just came back online after whatever meltdown you had. Threatened to shut down the site, then you changed your mind. Maybe you really aren't cut out for this industry. Your trying to look like a business, but you run this like a hobby. When people become paid subscribers to something they want delivery! They don't want updates on failed promises. Quickest way to loose a customer is to loose their trust in your consistency.
You should have been doing smaller things all along, rather than trying to focus all at once on this move. For example, you should have planned this more carefully by shooting a bunch of scenes ahead of time, while discussing this with your new payment processor. Then when you give this update, you'd still have material to post on a weekly basis. I know that's not a perfect example, but something along those lines.
I've loosely followed your site for awhile now, and you're just too inconsistent. When I want to view your content, I'll wait months, and then get a trial membership, download all the movies that interest me and cancel. I would repeat that process over and over. That's all you've earned from me. You can't expect a consistent customer when you're an inconsistent merchant. All I ever see is no update this week (when you do even say that much) or here is something to hold you until the next update...or whatever.
I will be perfectly honest with you, you've forced me to just look in the black market and find your videos from those who have posted them in free areas. I'm not paying for the level of service that you provide. You're not a professional in this business, you're just a hobbyist. I'm not thrilled by hearing you're becoming independent; I would be more thrilled by hearing you're going to stop being inconsistent.
Michael, it's obvious that you can't meet the demands of this industry. Porn is an addiction, whether people admit to it or not. And if you're going to be the dopeman, you need to be consistent with the crack, or get off the corner.

a little harsh but someone needed to say it. i don't totally agree, but i do agree with consistency problem. someone wrote a while back we pay for porn not excuses. i do realize that mike is a single guy running a site so i give him a little slack. sites like dawgpoundusa they have a team of people. i think whenever the site comes back you need to select a day of the week to update. we don't know if mike have a career or job that might make it a little harder. i really wish mike you respond to his blog comment. i don't want you to give porn up. we love your work. just try to stick to the 3 updates a month and more people will be happy. im with you the whole way mike and im pretty sure many other people don't agree with him for you to hang up your towel. just serve the damn crack to us crack fiends. lmfao

Thanks for the blunt and brutally honest feedback. I agree with some of your observations, but feel that others are very harsh and unfair. Either way, the fact that you'd take the time to write such a lengthy and candid critique at least shows that you care about my work, flawed as you think it may be.
I have already admitted numerous times here on the blog that things have been inconsistent over the past several months, and fallen short of the high standard I've tried to establish for BBA. I don't really see how it does any good to rub my face in that fact. It's not like I'm delusional or oblivious to my own imperfections and mistakes. In fact, it's just the opposite. I have always been my own harshest critic, and I am always striving to learn from my past mistakes and make whatever changes are necessary to help BBA grow and improve over time. That's precisely the reason I'm making this move in the first place!
Are there things I could have done differently to make this transition go a little more quickly and smoothly? Absolutely. But there's never going to be an "ideal" time for a big change like this, and even though I knew it would piss some people off and even possibly cost me some valued customers, I also knew this move was absolutely necessary in order for BBA to survive and grow and achieve the kind of consistency you're asking for!
Think of it like this: I'm like a restaurant owner who's decided to close my doors for a couple weeks while I hire a construction crew to come in and make some major and necessary renovations. Sure, there will be some disappointed and even pissed off customers who show up hungry and ready to eat, only to find that we're temporarily closed for business. But that shouldn't stop me from looking at the BIG PICTURE and doing what's best for me, my business, and most importantly, my fans and customers, in the long-run!

I have never claimed to be anything more than an AMATEUR producer pursuing a life-long dream and doing his best to deliver unique, high-quality HOMEMADE porn to the public. Unlike most professional sites, I don't have a staff of assistants to help me with the day-to-day tasks of running the site. I am responsible for EVERYTHING that goes on behind the scenes - model recruiting, filming, editing, web design, customer service, blogging, advertising/marketing, accounting, etc. For the past three years, I've invested blood, sweat, tears, and more sleepless nights than you will ever know into building BBA up from SCRATCH into a successful site. So of course it's a little insulting to be dismissed by you as nothing more than a "hobbyist."
There are always going to be mistakes and setbacks and inconsistencies in a truly amateur, solo venture like this. You can't really compare your local, family-owned corner grocery store to Wal-Mart. As far as your accusation that I'm "not cut out" for this industry is concerned, I will leave that up to the porn historians to decide (if there even is such a thing, LOL) at some point in the future. I know I've made my fair share of mistakes, and my journey from releasing a few homemade movies on DVD to designing and running my own website and porn company has certainly had its mishaps and detours. But at the end of the day, I'm DAMN PROUD of what I've been able to share with BBA's fans and customers so far, and eager to achieve even better things in the months and years to come!
If you're dissatisfied with my content or services, the solution is simply to cancel your BBA membership (or not purchase one to begin with), and even share your frustrations with me on the blog or by email as you've chosen to do. The solution is NOT to seek out my copyrighted, STOLEN content elsewhere on the Internet. You might not like a particular brand of automobile, or the way an auto-maker or car dealership does business. But that's a pretty lame excuse for going out and actually STEALING the same damn car!

Michael, while the intent of my comments were not to offend, I do realize that aspects of it would invariably offend you and possibly others. I see that this has without a doubt offended you and some others. So I apologize for offending you. That truly was not my intent.
Now, we could go on all day with this, but I think one this is clear by my, along with several other viewers' comments: we want more than what you're putting out. It's been awhile since I've bought a subscription, so I can't recollect what the cost was, but I know it was competitive. With that being said, you can't sell a second class product at a first class price! That's a bad business model man. I'm actually going out to check now what the current price is for your content...okay, I'm back. I see that you are $19.95/mo. Now I really have a point. DawgpoundUSA, PapiThugz, and Chocolate Drop are all $19.95. Raw Rods and ThugBoy are 24.95, and BreedItRaw is 21.95. Do you see anything wrong with this picture? Most if not all of them update more than three times a month (you rarely do that, as already mentioned), and they are professional porn!
So you see Michael, this is why I question your professionalism. Yes, you do have a unique niche, so charge 20 bucks a month, but PROVIDE THE DAMN CONTENT!!! That's all! You don't see any of them coming out with either nothng or just excuses do you? And guess what, Amateur doesn't mean you have to be unprofessional!

I won't be doing that anymore...it's actually harder to find anyway...lol..unless I'm not looking in the right places...maybe someone can help me out with that! Hahaha...just kidding. I do realize that as a businessman, that's unfair to the market. Best of luck Mike. Should you get things going more consistently, then perhaps I will return on the regular. By the way, I would make myself available if you were really serious about finding alternatives to your one-man operation. There are ways that even amateurs can look like real professionals. Get at me if you wish (and if you're not too offended). But I must warn you, I don't play around dude. And I don't have time for feelings. I get things done! I may be able to point you into some directions that will help. The people that I interact with are used to doing virtual assistance for ALL industries, so porn is no exception.

Your critique implies that I'm somehow delusional or at the very least passive when it comes to BBA's flaws, when in fact I've been making many of the very same points here on the blog for the past several months, AND taking significant steps to address and FIX the problems. One step being to partner with another producer to supplement my own content (the photographer in Jamaica), another being this latest move which I know will make it easier to deliver better content on a more consistent basis. But change doesn't happen overnight, and your insults are neither informative nor particularly helpful when I'm already in the midst of addressing and fixing the problems.
You also mock me for "crying" about my problems and making excuses, but totally ignore the CONTEXT in which my comments are made. This is a porn blog, not a damn business journal. A place for BBA's viewers and fans to follow what goes on BEHIND THE SCENES of an amateur porn site and read my honest, personal reflections on the day-to-day experiences of being a porn producer. The reality is that making porn isn't always easy or fun. Sometimes it involves models who quit at the last minute or never show up, problems with camera or computer equipment, video-shoots that go disastrously wrong, and sometimes far worse things that I choose not to share. This blog is a place where I can vent and give those who are interested an informative and hopefully entertaining glimpse at what really goes on behind the scenes. If you want to dismiss and ridicule that as me "crying," making excuses, or being a "big softy," then this blog is not intended for you!
What you failed to mention when comparing BBA to those other sites you mentioned is that 1) most of those sites draw from the same small pool of over-exposed "porn stars," and 2) even those sites that update 3 or more times a month (I know that at least two of the sites you mentioned do not), usually feature predictable, tightly-edited, MTV-style videos that are rarely more than 15 or 20 minutes long. BBA, on the other hand, offers fresh/local faces you won't see on the other sites, unique/niche content, and most of the scenes are between 30 and 90 minutes long! I'm not trying to attack any of the sites you mentioned, just pointing out that you're comparing prices between very different products.
Let's both take a step back and let the BIG PICTURE take shape. If nothing has changed six months or a year from now, come back and dismiss me as a "hobbyist" all you want. If, on the other hand, the hard work and tough decisions I'm making now pave the way for better content and more consistency down the road, you'd better be the first crackhead in line

I have to agree. There is too much inconsistency and it has been going on for much longer than just the past few months. I have also cancelled only to re-subscribe, but I see the same problems continuing. And I do think it is fair to complain given that people are paying for this and were told they would receive a set number of new videos every month. When the videos do come out, they are of good quality with a nice variety so I feel people are willing to give some slack - but it only will go so far.

too many excuses over too many months -- it's just hard to keep paying around $20/month for nothing but excuses.
some posters here have been very harsh, but that's what happens when people feel cheated -- and no updates over long time periods = being cheated.
why haven't you extended the subscriptions of your subscribers to make up for the lack of new content? people would not tear you down if you did that. how about 3 free months for every subscriber who paid you for 3 months?
if you're unwilling to offer a good deal to your loyal subscribers, your excuses will fall on deaf ears. you're getting to be like "the boy who cried wolf." things are always going to change and get better real soon....and then they don't.

I wish it was that simple! The problem is that as part of the Badpuppy network, I never had any kind of oversight or control over memberships. That's actually one of the many benefits to becoming an independent site! But you can see how it's made a transition like this one somewhat awkward and stressful, not having the ability to carry over or extend the memberships of BBA's loyal members. I totally understand your frustration, and I'm sending you a private email to address your concerns.
