Down….But Not Out!

Those of you who share my love for college basketball, and even some of you who don’t, will no doubt have heard by now about last night’s historic upset.

For those of you who don’t follow March Madness, it was the very first time in the history of the NCAA college basketball tournament that a #16 seed (University of Maryland Baltimore County) beat a #1 seed (Virginia).  In other words, a school most people had never even heard of defeated and humiliated what was supposed to be the best team in the country (and busted my personal bracket in the process, LOL).

Reacting to the historic and devastating loss with what I thought was impressive humility and class, Virginia’s coach Tony Bennett had the following to say:

I told our guys, we had a historic season. A historic season in terms of most wins in the ACC. A week ago we’re cutting down the nets and the confetti is falling. And then we make history by being the first one-seed to lose. I’m sure a lot of people will be happy about that. And it stings. I told the guys, this is life. It can’t define you. You enjoyed the good times and you gotta be able to take the bad times. When you step into the arena, the consequences can be historic losses, tough losses, great wins, and you have to deal with it. That’s the job.

Sports are often a good metaphor for life, and I couldn’t help but relate Coach Bennett’s wise words to BBA’s own unexpected struggles these past couple months.

There’s no sugarcoating it, we’ve had a pretty shitty and stressful start to the year. Just a few short months ago, we were celebrating what had arguably been BBA’s best year so far and looking forward to what promised to be an even bigger and better year in 2018.

But life sometimes has a cruel way of mocking our plans and keeping us humble. And these past couple months have been an unexpected sucker-punch to the gut. Starting with the sudden death of my grandmother and then my own bout with the cold/flu after that, it’s just been a tsunami of bad luck ever since.

I guess porn isn’t really all that different from other types of work in this way.

A farmer might enjoy a bountiful harvest one season, but have his entire crops wiped out by a tornado the next. An NFL running back might break statistical records with his performance one Sunday, but suffer a season-ending injury the following week. A Hollywood movie producer might have a box-office blockbuster one summer, but find themselves forced to postpone the release date for their next film due to unavoidable production delays.

Like Virginia’s coach said, THAT’S LIFE and we can’t let it define us. We have to accept these bad times along with the good.

And like my grandfather always used to say….

As I write this, I’m realizing this is less of an announcement for BBA’s viewers than a much-needed pep talk for myself. But I did want to reassure everyone that there’s no reason for any kind of long-term alarm. We’ve been through much worse and always managed to come back from these occasional dry spells even better than before.

Rest assured that Shax Carter, Montez, and myself are all working hard to bring you an exciting new Spring Season just as soon as we can, with regular updates hopefully resuming as early as later next week. We’re finally starting to see some glimmers of light at the end of this long, dreary tunnel. And looking forward to finding out together what the future has in store….

I am sending good vibes and energy your way. I know we don’t always agree on everything and I’m sure I might be the last person you want any encouragement from but I don’t like to see people go through hard times especially when I have been there myself particularly in this business. I learn every day that trials and tribulations will only make us stronger. Life won’t always be peachy but if you hang in there you will come out of it stronger and better than ever. I can’t deny the fact that you have produced some of the best content and models in the business and I can’t wait for an update.  Hang in there Mike.

Thanks, Luckey, for your encouragement and support. All we can really do is try to learn from this experience, persevere, work hard, and hopefully come out on the other side better and stronger and wiser.

The BBA you know and love (and sometimes “love to hate” lol) will hopefully be back in the normal swing of things very soon 😉 !

Wish it was truly that simple and easy. But for what it’s worth, the recent steps I’ve taken to hire Shax Carter as a director, and bring on Montez as a full-time Business Manager, will hopefully help us achieve greater consistency and avoid these types of delays in the future.

I have tried to avoid commenting, however, I have been in the business world for a long time and as much as I know “stuff happens”, when people pay you for a product you have to find a way to deliver. However, I am sympathetic to your plight, when you have a cascade of unfortunate circumstances, such as the death of a loved one and illness, it makes it difficult to focus on business. That being said, take a little time to rest and get better and then — Get back to work!!!

        Luv ya!!!!

Mike I’m as empathetic as they come, and have been a loyal member of BBA since the beginning. It has been one thing after the other year in and year out…please let this truly be a new beginning once and for all. My goodness is it really this hard, if so maybe you should just go on hiatus until you are able to fully, consistently deliver the product customers pay for. Thanks

I thought exactly the same thing! At the slightest concern of Mike, nothing works. This is not how a site that wants to be more and more pro should work. With Montez and Shax I thought we were on the way, but stay A MONTH without anything new on the site, there is nothing more frustrating! Not even an old video from DLChillSpot or the Jamaican director … Better, you could offer videos behind the scenes, or scenes cut, I do not know, something to make us wait! I have always supported you, I try to do it again, but the wait is already long … Sorry

I’m anticipating the next scene. I wish you had more unreleased scenes stacked up. What about contacting the Jamaican producer again?

Michael once everything gets up and running again what day and time of the day will new footage be released.
It’s a good thing for some of us to give us a free month but you need to consider some of us have been around for a long time and we already have old footage in our collection so we’re getting nothing free.
    Good luck with BBA
